2020 Summer Travel in an RV

Your local RV dealers can tell you that summer travel is a big draw for RVers. And the Summer of 2020 is shaping up to have even more appeal for RVs because a motorhome or travel trailer will allow you to see the country while staying isolated with your travel group. Even if the populated attractions are on lockdown, there is a world of boondocking adventure waiting for summer RV travel.

RV Life and Social Distancing

For RV dealers, now is the time to invest in a motorhome or travel trailer. It eliminates congested terminals and ticketed transportation, gives you the comfort and safety of having meals at your dining table, and gives your loved ones a bubble of isolation as you experience some of California’s most appreciated locations.

Ride the Highway

Route 101 north from the Bay Area traverses some of the country’s finest wilderness. National forests like Trinity National Forest near Mt. Shasta and 6 Rivers National Forest to the West offer plenty of places to get away from it all and have some fun in the great outdoors. Closer to the coast, the Redwood National and State parks offer majestic evidence that life on Earth is vibrant and inspiring.

See Napa Valley

The region that makes up Napa Valley stretches north from San Pablo Bay NWR through quiet countrysides and sprawling vineyards to Calistoga, California. Plan ahead, and you may be able to squeeze in a tour at one of Spring Mountain AVA’s wineries later in the year. From valley streams to mountain views, Napa Valley has a lot to offer without breaking social distancing guidelines.

San Simeon and Big Sur

Riding Route 1 south from Monterey Bay is an adventure in itself. The roadway hugs the coastal cliffs, providing unbroken miles of ocean scenes and easy access to small RV resorts in remote locations. Check out the treasured artwork at Hearst Castle, or admire the gigantic elephant seals as they relax on the nation’s largest elephant seal reserve. Stock up and fill your tanks before leaving out of Monterey Bay as the prices can be a bit exorbitant at roadside attractions.

For your safety, schedule complete servicing before you plan to head out of town. From scheduled maintenance to repairs and upgrades, having your RV in top condition when you leave home can prevent becoming stranded in unfamiliar locations. And when everything is in top running condition, social distancing will become a matter of the course you set.
