RV Parts to Have on Hand for Your Next Trip

Nohr’s RV Center has RV parts we want you to be aware of and to always keep on hand before your next RV adventure. We hope you keep these handy as an ounce of prevention can save you a lot of time and money.

Hoses

Engine hoses are relatively inexpensive when you buy them from authorized RV dealers like Nohr’s RV Center, but you could end up paying an arm and a leg if you can find the right hose at all while out on the open road. Keeping a spare of your major engine hoses is worth the space they require for storage.

Fuses

Most of your DC systems are controlled by fuses and blowing the wrong fuse on a rainy night could result in things like wipers that don’t work, loss of turn signals, and other mechanical problems. An assortment of fuses to fit your different electrical circuits takes up very little space but can save the day when you need one.

Lamps

It is a good idea to check your vehicle lights before you leave home, but having spare lamps for your running lights, brakes, and turn signals is a great one. Vehicle lamps don’t burn out very often, but it can be difficult to find the right ones at the local auto parts store and an RV service center is not always going to be nearby.

Lubricant

You probably don’t need to carry along a grease gun for your chassis fittings, but packing away a couple of quarts of motor oil can prevent expensive repairs if you happen to run low while traveling. Make sure to pick up the oil listed in your owner’s manual, or talk to your RV dealers about factory specifications.

Coolant

If something goes wrong and you spring a leak or have to replace one of your engine hoses, you will need some engine coolant to keep things running smoothly. Under most conditions, you should never need engine coolant at random times, but not having it available can lead to severe engine damage that cots far more than simply packing coolant along.

In addition to these critical parts, you should always carry a toolbox with commonly used items like pliers, screwdrivers, and essential sockets. Include a small container of penetrating fluid and some hand cleaner to round out your general toolkit. And if you bring in your RV for servicing you can make needing these parts a lot less likely by having everything checked out professionally ahead of time.
