Spring Break Destinations with Your RV

Bay area RV dealers are quick to point out that Spring Break is the perfect time to pack up the family and head out for West Coast fun. The winter months are too cold for most RVers, and the summer months tend to be hot and crowded, but Spring is ideal for road trips.

Travels for Couples

For those who want to get away from it all on a cozy trip for 2, the West Coast has a lot to offer. You will find ample places to camp and explore, theme parks, and international travel destinations like Santa Monica, California.

Travel the PCH – Following Route 1, known as the Pacific Coast Highway or PCH for short, up the West Coast is a romantic and exciting way to enjoy Spring Break. The path will take you through world-famous locations such as San Simeon, the home of the nation’s largest elephant seal populations and the oldest lighthouses on the West Coast. Be warned, however, that prices can be a bit extravagant in the more rural areas, so stock up before you leave the big cities.

Visit Mount Shasta – The city of Mount Shasta is a small town located at the base of the mountain of the same name. This Spring Break destination is perfect for RV groups of all sizes but has a special charm for loving couples. It features the headsprings of the Sacramento River, upbeat dining and recreation, and rural boondocking for up to 2 weeks in Trinity National Forest.

Family Destinations

From outdoors adventures amid beautiful mountains and towering trees to educational and entertaining stops, RV travelers will find many locations in California to fit their needs.

Yosemite National Park – Yosemite is one of the largest national parks in the nation. It features majestic mountains, wildlife, and giant sequoias. The glacial paths are not generally open to visitors until May, but there is still plenty to see and do in March and April.

Monterey Bay – Just north of Big Sur and San Simeon, Monterey Bay is a charming town with a little of everything. This unique geographic location is the home of one of California’s largest aquariums, world-famous Cannery Row, and a tribute Henry Ketchum at Dennis the Menace Park. There are miles of shoreline, extensive biking and hiking trails, and ample campgrounds for RV camping.

Large Families and Groups

Visit the Redwoods – Giant redwoods only grow in a small portion of the Northern California and Southern Oregon coastal regions. Recognized as the largest trees in the world, these magnificent plants live for hundreds of years and were nearly harvested into obscurity during the late 1800s and early 1900s before becoming a protected national treasure.

Olympic National Park – From snow-capped glacial mountain peaks to dense forests and coastal getaways, Olympic National Park near Seattle Washington is a treat for the whole family. While RV campgrounds are limited, there are still plenty of places available for your group to do it all. Keep in mind that this area gets crowded during the Summer months, so Spring excursions are often the best choice. This Pacific Northwest location is also close to the Peugeot Sound, and the far northwest coast is home to some of the largest orca pods in the world.

Bring your RV to your RV dealer in Tracy, CA at Nohr’s RV Center for complete servicing and repairs, so before your trip begins. Mountainous travel can be hard on motorhomes, so a tuneup and necessary repairs may be an essential precaution for travelers.
